Knocking down metal silhouettes at set distances; pistol/rifle/airgun depending on category.
Silhouette shooting originated in Mexico. In 1948, the first competition with metal targets was held in Mexico City with the support of Don Gonzalo Aguilar.
In 1967, the first large caliber rifle competition was held in Arizona. In 1976, IHMSA (International Handgun Metallic Silhouette Association) was founded.
In 1992, IMSSU (International Metallic Silhouette Shooting Union) was created to unify rules worldwide. Currently 22 member countries participate.
Hungary has been represented by MDLSZ since 2001. From June 20-30, 2023 , Hungary hosted the European Championship (also a World Cup), with nearly 500 entries. Hungarian shooters achieved 102 podium finishes !
